Heal the Root. Restore the Family.

As August and quickly thereafter, Fall, approaches, school is back in session, and life reenters a more structured and predictable pace. We often pause and reflect on seasons of life from the age of our children and how quickly time has past, to the summer we waited all year for, summer memories being made, the harvest of the garden with fireflies floating through the air, the smell of fresh cut hay, the fruit of the season and then all of it to suddenly be fading away quickly like it was only a whisp of breath floating away on the wind.

Haven has been in a reflective pause for a few months now, a slower time of reflecting while seeing our people online as we transitioned from a space where we had landed in 2019, a short year and a half after Haven's beginnings in September of 2017. These past few months have been a time of seeking the Lord and Him only for each next step, a reflection on places where maybe there were mistakes, and a timeline that slowed down because maybe the focus became too much on the wrong things and wrong opinions instead of staying true to what the calling was at the age of sixteen.
This has been a time to refocus on keeping HIM the main thing instead of listening to way too many other opinions of me and my worth and what I should or should not be doing. One thing is for certain: God has mightily used repeated patterns of what the enemy tried to use to destroy and take out this mission permanently. I find myself in a similar place to where I was eight years ago when I left a larger company to fully step into my calling. Now, here we are again, a little older, hopefully a lot more discerning and wise in my years, and ready after having walked through some fiery places over the past eight years.
This has been a time of grief for what I thought was true, only for the actual truth to be heart-wrenching to walk out. A literal stripping away of most everything and everyone I thought I had known, been on the same page with, and had been a part of my life. There's something about when you sit in that place and realize that you were living your life for other people instead of an audience of One, and the only approval you actually will ever need is His. He already loves you fiercely for who He made you to be, not turning yourself inside out to be what others think you should be. Part of me wishes that it could have been learned more easily, but maybe it just wouldn't have.
Out of that space of realization and digging deep for what I am called to in this season has come a shift. The original vision is there, the heart of the vision is not different, it just comes in different packages than I expected, and has the capacity to reach more people with the Heart of the message that we carry at Haven. Packages that, if I'm honest, make me uncomfortable with the exposure of my heart and vulnerability that will be required to walk in this space with all of you.
The Heart of Haven is that every single person is SEEN. KNOWN. and LOVED. for who they are created to be, and WHOSE they are, that relationships and families are restored, and we as humans are comfortable in our original design, even when it doesn't fit into someone else's box or approval.
Haven wants to get to the root, see it healed, and walk alongside you as generational dysfunction is dismantled, bodies and minds are healed, and we do more to prevent trauma from happening than we do trying to help heal from trauma that has already happened at the end of the day. We literally want to work our way out of a job and see you walking in the freedom of who you are, not the shell of a person that is inhabited by only parts of who you actually are, because you are afraid to show up as fully you.
Your. Story. Matters.
Out of my own story, and the many stories of others that I have walked with over the years, whether from my early years of teaching when I was straight out of college, or the years spent in Early Intervention, or the years spent counseling in homes, in agencies, in outpatient, and in private practice, there are a few themes that have constantly resonated and repeated with me over the years.
Stories on repeat.
Stories of deep pain and dismissal and being misunderstood when it mattered most.
Out of that experience come three year-long immersive experiences with deep work, monthly webinars, and coaching with Healing Footprints.

Built for families navigating neurodivergence and developmental trauma, this immersive program helps you ditch traditional behavior charts. Learn to stop managing the "fruit" of bad behavior and start healing your child's nervous system at the "root" to turn household chaos into a lasting connection.
A comprehensive, somatic guide to recovering from narcissistic abuse and high-conflict dynamics. Step out of the fog of manipulation, experience nervous system resets to silence your body's alarm system, and build the tactical boundaries you need to architect a safe, regulated life.
A transformative roadmap for anyone who has lost their identity to chronic stress, trauma, or systemic burnout. Stop living in survival mode, heal the people-pleasing fawn response, set ironclad boundaries, and fiercely reclaim the autonomy and peace that belong entirely to you.
If these immersive experiences don't get deep enough into your story, we will also offer these options;
Step out of the daily chaos and into a safe harbor. Our immersive, in-person experiences provide a dedicated space to accelerate your healing. Combining clinical trauma frameworks with guided somatic practices, these retreats offer the uninterrupted time, community, and expert support you need to deeply regulate your nervous system and find true, restorative rest.
We are still offering limited, traditional, outpatient counseling from new locations so that we are better able to collaborate by sharing space with other disciplines and to address the needs of the whole child.
We won't take every referral in this next season, because these are our main specialty areas, but we will find you a trusted resource if we are not able to accommodate your needs. I personally will only be taking on children and their families. However, our immersive experiences are open to grown-ups of all ages.
Let us walk alongside you in your story.
Heal the Root. Restore the family.
Love,
Jen
